This year marks the 10th anniversary for the Hope
& Cope Young Adult Division. It was established in May 2001
with the goal of raising awareness of young adult cancer and
raising funds to support Hope & Cope’s programs and
services, with a special focus on programs geared towards young
adults (aged 18-35) with cancer. The division is made up of
a group of deeply devoted volunteers with a powerful desire
to educate the youth of Montreal about the services available
at Hope & Cope, and to provide the opportunity for young
adults whose lives have been touched by cancer to connect with
each other and share their stories.
Since its founding, the Y.A.D has grown to over 30 volunteers.
Their fundraising efforts have raised over $800,000 to date,
a true testament to Hope & Cope’s profound impact
in the Montreal community. The Y.A.D. can be reached through
the Hope & Cope office at the Jewish General Hospital in
Montreal, 514 340-8255.
The mission of Hope & Cope is a simple one – we help
people cope with cancer. Since our establishment more than 27
years ago, the essential core of Hope & Cope is the cancer-experienced
volunteer. We value the commitment, wisdom and experience of
volunteers who have themselves been touched by cancer and who
are willing and able to share their story of hope with others.

About Hope & Cope
Hope & Cope is a Montreal based non-profit, psychosocial
support organization for cancer patients and their families.
Guided by a staff of professional social workers and 300-plus
volunteers, these caring individuals dedicate their time to
helping patients and their family members through every stage
of the cancer journey.
“Our mission is to assist people dealing with cancer and
help them understand and cope with the physical, emotional and
social effects of a cancer diagnosis and its treatments”.
Hope & Cope offers an extensive number of services, free
of charge, from two locations: its home base at the Jewish General
Hospital and the JGH Hope & Cope Wellness Centre, affectionately
referred to as Lou’s House. Programs include one-to-one
peer counselling, self-help groups, coping skills workshops,
exercise, yoga, qi gong, tai chi, artistic and creative expression
as well as fittings for wigs, turbans and scarves.
