Needs for 2010
Hope & Cope strives to offer the "comforts of home"
for patients who have a long day of treatments or require a
long stay in the hospital. This year, the Young Adult Division
would like to focus on “Lou’s House” –
the new Wellness Centre that’s dedicated to helping people
live and feel well in mind, body and spirit during and after
treatment. The Wellness Centre is the first and only one of
its kind in Quebec, offering a variety of wellness programs
in a peaceful, home-like setting.
It is only through the generous support of the community that
the wonderful efforts that have gone into creating the Wellness
Centre can be sustained. In addition to supporting this centre,
proceeds from Denim & Diamonds are allocated to the Compassionate
Fund. This fund is used to help people with terminal cancer
who are experiencing financial difficulties. If you would like
to help make a wish come true, please call Hope & Cope today.
Examples of how the Compassionate Fund has assisted
patients and their families include:
 |
- The purchase of specialized equipment such as a
lymphedema sleeve
- Daycare and summer camp expenses for children of
young cancer patients
- Assistance with bill payments for patients waiting
for welfare entitlements to be processed
- Air ticket for a family member to come from Asia
to help care for their loved one in Palliative Care
- Transportation for out-of -town family
- Help for families to cope with unexpected expenditures
when no other family or community support is available
